Pay Per Pixel

This script came about when I wanted to set up 5 Cent Pixels web site after seeing Million Dollar HomePage selling pixels on their home page.

The one thing I noted was that the Million Dollar Home Page site and others that have copied the idea where all done manually which meant each time an order came in you had to manually add the submitted image aswell as the link to the html code. This was leading to a backlog of upto 48 hours on the Million Dollar Home Page site.

We have now developed the Pay Per Pixel script that automates everything, it allows the user to place the order and make a payment via Paypal or Moneybookers, once the payment is confirmed via IPN the script ads the image and link automatically, it then sends a confirmation email out to the customer. This means that their image/link is normally added within minutes rather than hours or days.

NEW - We have just added another script called snapad (SNAPshot of ADs) to the package that allows you to display a section of your Pay Per Pixel image/grid on other sites as a banner ad as we are now doing at the top of this page. The section displayed is totally random but the size of the section being displayed is set in the html/javascript that calls it.

NEW - The script now comes with an administration script that lets you manually process and remove pixel ads/links both ones that have been paid for and added to the site and those where users have got as far as monoybookers/paypal and then changed their minds.

NEW - We have just released an Extras script to complement your Pay Per Pixel site. This allows you to display an advertisers list, a 'tell a friend' form and the ability to run contests.

Features Include :

• Uses DHTML to allow the user to view what their image will look like before they actually commmit themselves
• Can have plain colour or an image behind the grid, see 5 cent pixels(image)
• Your grid position and size can be set so your grid only covers your background image
• Uses PayPal and Moneybookers to accept payment and their IPN systems to inform script payment is made
• Users image and link is automatically added once payment has been confirmed.
• Users image is automatically resized to the number of pixels they want so they do not need the orriginal image to be exact size
• Ensures that once a user clicks the payment button, the position they are ordering can not be over written by another picture.
• You can set the cost per pixel and the currency in which you are charging.
• Pixels can only be sold in blocks of a size you set, ie 10x10 or 20x20 etc.
• Take a peice of your site 'snap ad' and display it on other sites like a banner. (see top of page for example)
• Administration routine allows you to manage incomplete orders and remove/see details of completed orders.

Requirements:

• *nix web server - this has been tested on Redhat and should work on any *nix server.
• MySQL Server 4.1+ (Email Us if you need a us to host your database)
• perl 5.8
• CGI and LWP perl modules
• DBI perl modules for MYSQL access
• Image::Magick perl module and ImageMagick (Min version 6, we know it works for ImageMagick version 6.2.x)
• Digest::MD5 and Image::Info perl modules
• Basic understanding of installing perl scripts and dhtml

Purchasing

Payment is made via Paypal, click on the 'Buy Now' button for the currency you wish to pay in and you will be taken to the Paypal website to make your payment. As soon as your payment has been completed your script will be emailed to you at the email address you used to pay with.

You are purchasing a single usage license with this script, multiple licenses are required if you intend to run on multiple sites. Make sure your server meets the above requirements before purchasing as refunds can not be given once the script has been emailed

Extras Script

• Advertisers List - List all of your advertisers with their image and stats for visitors to see
• Tell A Friend - Let visitors inform others about your site, they can enter upto 5 names and email addresses
• Contests - Run contests for both advertisers and visitors, contests can end on a physical date or when you have sold a fixed percentage of your pixels. Winners can be picked manually by you or automatically by the script.
